This year we're adding something new to the Heritage Trail - A history Scavenger Hunt for students! Prizes include a 8 inch Samsung Galaxy tablet, a Kindle Fire and backpacks filled with school supplies!
The Scavenger Hunt is open to ALL students - Public school, private school or home schooled.
The Scavenger Hunts are broke into two different grade levels: 1st-5th & 6th-12th for the 2017/18 school year and three different regions - Foothills/Auburn, Mountain and Valley/Western Placer.
To download the instructions and any of the Scavenger Hunts, please go to www.placer.ca.gov/museums and scroll down to the box that's labeled "Heritage Trail Museums Tour".
Heritage Trail Scavenger Hunt Instructions
Each question is tied to a particular museum. When you find the answer or the object for the question, have the docent stamp your Scavenger Hunt in the box for that museum*. Although each Scavenger Hunt has ten questions, you only need to complete seven questions. Once you have seven questions answered, write your name, address and telephone number on the Scavenger Hunt. You may turn your completed Scavenger Hunt into the last museum you visited. In order to qualify for the drawing, you must turn in your completed Scavenger Hunt by Sunday, September 3rd at 4:00 pm. The scavenger hunt is open to all students.
You don’t have to visit participating museums on their Heritage Trail day – you can visit any of them during their regular hours through the summer (please visit our blog to see the full schedule and each museum’s regular hours of operation: www.theheritagetrail.blogspot.com ).
You can also pick up Trail Guides & Scavenger Hunts at any participating museum including: the Placer County Museum (101 Maple Street in Auburn); the Maidu Museum & Historic Site (1970 Johnson Ranch Drive in Roseville); and the Gatekeepers Museum (130 West Lake Boulevard in Tahoe City).
You can only play one scavenger hunt at a time, but once you turn in one you can play another.
Parents and Guardians: You may give as much help as your child needs to complete their Scavenger Hunt.
*Note: If for any reason a docent is unable to stamp your Scavenger Hunt, please let the next museum know or call 530-889-6500 and we’ll make sure you get the stamp you are missing.
